We Work Remotely
As a Designer at Smile, you will get the opportunity to inform the design of products and interfaces used by tens of thousands of businesses and millions of customers worldwide. You will work closely with other designers, engineers, and marketing and merchant experience teams.

About the Role:
We’re looking for somebody with a background in visual design keen to gain product experience at a fast-paced startup—someone comfortable balancing marketing and graphic design with product and design system work. We expect you to take the lead on visual design whilst receiving plenty of support on the product side.

What you’ll help us achieve:

  • You will elevate the quality of the visual design at Smile.
  • You will help improve our marketing campaigns by producing assets such as digital illustrations, social media creatives, and email templates.
  • You will help create more delightful experiences for merchants and shoppers by integrating your visual design skills with our product development.

Who you are:

  • You have a portfolio of visual design work that includes some web or product design and marketing design.
  • You are highly proficient at using Figma or motivated to become so.
  • You are excited about working in a fully remote, distributed environment with team members from diverse backgrounds and time zones.
  • You have good verbal and written communication skills;because we are a distributed team, you need to be comfortable with async forms of communication, such as written reports and Loom videos. The more we develop these skills, the better we respect each other’s work hours.
  • You will be willing to travel once or twice a year to meet up with your colleagues once it is safe for everyone to do so.

If you have experience in any of these fields, let us know:

  • Ecommerce.
  • Design systems.
  • Digital illustration.
  • Social media marketing campaigns.
  • Email campaigns.
  • Animation.

What to expect

  • Initial screening.
  • Talk on camera to present yourself, your portfolio, or a recent project. *
  • Video interviews with a few folks from our Design and Product Team.
  • Problem-solving whiteboarding exercise. Not a test of any prior experience, instead a way to see how we communicate and collaborate.
