The APAC team is responsible for reliably connecting our customers with diversified sources of travel inventory (Air, Hotel, Ground transportation) so that we can always offer the best possible deal. As Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for representing the Asia-Pacific travel customer by scaling and improving our feature set and operations.
You’ll work with a highly skilled team of technical, data and product-focused individuals, whose mission is to consistently find and deliver the best travel deals for our customers. Everything we do is focused on customer experience, data measurement and delivering value at speed, helping Hopper rise to the top of the travel industry –you’ll be responsible for making that a reality.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the user experience to help Hopper rise to the top of the travel industry in APAC
- Work with your teammates to improve their working knowledge of iOS and Android best practices
- Create delightful user experiences in an app using Swift for iOS and Kotlin for Android
- Build app flows using internal frameworks based on Scala language
- Build innovative consumer experiences, setting standards for code and performance
- Collaborate with a diverse group of people, giving and receiving feedback to foster growth
- Participate in the product design process and contribute ideas from a product-focused engineering perspective, it’s a collaborative process in which you’ll have a big impact on the product definition
Preferred professional experiences
- 6+ years professional experience, worked in cross-functional teams
- Programming experience with Swift or Kotlin
- Excellent CS knowledge, thorough understanding of modern mobile development practices
- The ability to bring leading industry techniques and technologies to the table
- Data-driven approach to product development, testing, and measuring new ideas very quickly
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
Bonus points if you possess
- Backend programming experience building and managing multiple external API integrations or data heavy platforms
- Knowledge of Scala language or any framework for multi-platform applications from a single codebase
- Excelled in cross-functional teams, working fluidly with Product Managers, Backend Engineers, and other highly skilled specialists
- A passionate focus on quality, writing testable code that performs well for our consumers
- The ability to bring leading industry techniques and technologies to the table
- Experience working with either GCP or AWS cloud offerings
