About the Role
We are looking to hire a Product Design Lead. You’ll be responsible for designing Float’s user experience across our family of products, leading with our desktop application and mobile apps. To achieve this, you’ll partner closely with two seasoned Product Managers, a team of talented Engineers, and our CEO. You’ll have a solid foundation to build on, with an existing Style Guide crafted over several years, Sketch files and a library of past and current designs. You’ll consider this a starting point, not a constraint to our future design direction.
Partnering with our Marketing Lead, you’ll lead the direction of our marketing asset design and supporting collateral. It’s from this work, that you’ll start to shape and refine the Float Brand Guide. You may decide this is an ongoing iterative process, or at some stage, a rebrand is in order - these will be your decisions to make. We release features every 6 week cycle, followed by a 2-week planning and catch up cycle. During these phases our Product Managers will provide you with feature briefs and collaborate early on, ideating during our discovery phases and building a case for your design choices with supporting data. You’ll ensure your concepts are seen through to execution, providing feedback and continuing to tighten up concepts during development.
Last but not least, you’ll drive Product Design innovation at Float, carving out opportunities to experiment with new tools and design approaches, ensuring we’re at the forefront when it comes to faster and more visual ways, for teams to plan time.
This role does not have a Management component. You’ll have the opportunity to scale the Product Design team as Float continues to grow.
Requirements
We’re looking for someone with experience designing desktop user experiences at scale. You’ve been doing just this for at least five years, in companies that are either SaaS, B2B-focused or in the consumer productivity space.
You can demonstrate how you’ve made customers more productive by your design decisions - whether it be visualizing complex data sets, or simplifying typically convoluted workflows. You delight in the details, able to impress a creative customer base, that for us, including more than 3,000 agencies and studios across the globe. Above all, you love the craft of design, preferring few meetings, allowing for long stretches dedicated to the work. You spend most of your time in Sketch or Figma (We use Sketch today, but are open to either). You may have some coding experience to demonstrate interactions, but this isn’t mandatory - we have folks on the team that can help.
You possess excellent writing skills, comfortable communicating ideas in a predominantly asynchronous environment. When required, you’ll jump on a Zoom to help convey or workshop an idea more effectively.
Perhaps you’re currently part of a larger team within an established SaaS and are looking for an opportunity to carve your own path, and have a greater impact on a growing team and an industry-leading product.
