…And right now, we are looking for a Database Ops Engineer at an exciting time in Saga’s history. As a Group, Saga is taking to the seas in our brand new, luxury cruise ships, leading the market with innovative insurance and financial products.
You will be involved in customer data management which can include complex algorithms, which you will also be involved in database design, development, testing, performance tuning and support for all aspects of the Production, UAT and Development Environments. Working within a software development team, attending planning sessions, stand ups, reviews, and involved with multiple project stakeholders to help shape the future development of the systems.
You will bring a solid understanding of end-to-end data processing (ETL, DTS, SSIS) and be a strong communicator by having a high level of technical aptitude.

Main Responsibilities
As a Database Ops Engineer your top 5 responsibilities are:
Analysing, maintaining and optimising Saga’s customer databases.
Performance tuning - a deep understanding of index, query, and table performance and how to resolve issues.
Working collaboratively with other technology professionals to support technology programmes, projects and workstreams.
Identification of low value activity and process improvements. Encouraging automation and coordination with Development and DevOps teams.
Developing relationships with internal resources and third parties to aid incident and issue resolution.
