WordPress Full Stack Developer –Remote, U.S. Only

The Job: We are looking for a strong PHP developer with experience building custom and complex WordPress themes and plugins. Experience with the Laravel framework is a strong plus. We are a communication agency that builds custom solutions for our clients. We value experimenting with new technology and continuing to push ourselves forward. We primarily build on top of WordPress, but this isn’t your typical WordPress: We use a custom-built theme as the starting point for all our projects, rely heavily on the WordPress REST API (including using custom endpoints to meet our clients’ needs), and use Vue JS for front end templating. When WordPress isn’t the right solution, we typically lean on Laravel, and we maintain a couple Laravel applications. But WordPress is our bread and butter, and we’re looking for a skilled developer with experience creating complex WordPress sites to help us continue to deliver the best solutions for our clients.  

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain complex WordPress-based websites and applications
  • Work with a team of project managers, designers, developers, and other stakeholders throughout the development life cycle (planning, building, testing, deploying, maintaining) to plan the best technical solutions to problems and execute development
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance existing websites
  • Code review and provide feedback on the work of other developers
  • Improve internal tools and coding practices

Technical skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of WordPress development
  • Experience with Vue JS or other frontend frameworks
  • Familiarity with industry web standards and best practices
  • Strong understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, SCSS, JavaScript)
  • Ability to use modern JavaScript to implement well-architected features
  • Experience writing custom plug-ins and API integrations
  • Experience using Git

Personal skills

  • 5+ years of experience as a WordPress Developer
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Experience working on a remotely distributed team
  • Self-motivated
  • Always willing to learn, stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and not afraid to dig in.
  • Not afraid to bring ideas to the table, but also willing to listen and receive constructive feedback.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple projects during the same time period, and meet deadlines
  • Excited to be part of a team, share knowledge and help your team level up every day

Nice to have skills

  • Experience with automated deployment pipelines
  • Knowledge of Laravel development
  • Agency experience
