We are looking for a classic web designer – someone who covers the complete spectrum from UI/UX design in tools like Sketch or Figma to realizing that in HTML/CSS. While some familiarity with JavaScript and tooling such as git and static site builders like 11ty can't hurt, this is not a frontend engineering position. While your focus will be web design, ideally you don't shy away from the occasional visual design task like marketing materials for events we organize (or you can oversee external providers doing those for us). You should have prior experience designing and building web sites that you can share with us.
We are looking for a contractor to cover for our full-time webdesigner who is on leave for an extended period of time unfortunately. We are open to part time engagements and there is a possibility of joining us full-time in the future if the candidate is interested.
- Cover the web design spectrum from UI/UX design in Sketch or Figma to implementing the designs in HTML/CSS (for complex interactivity and applications, you'll work together with our frontend engineers)
- Work with clients and internal stakeholders on user flows that build the foundation for UI/UX designs.
- Work closely with engineers as you build, iterate on, and ship ideas.
- Create product component libraries and technical guidelines.
- Occasionally support our marketing and business development team with work on social media design assets, presentations for client handoffs, new business pitches, digital assets for events, and content for blogs posts and talks.
Must-Have
- 2-3 years experience
- experience designing and building responsive web sites
- knowledge of design systems and guidelines
- ability to create and update wireframes, mockups, and (digital) prototypes using Sketch, Figma, etc.
- ability to articulate your design decisions and presenting your work to others
- experience collaborating with product managers, engineers and project stakeholders in general
Bonus
- experience with motion design would be a welcome
- knowledge of frontend frameworks is a plus but not required
Please see our list as a starting point. We don’t search for a 100% match of lists. We are looking for talented, t-shaped people which will fit in our diverse team and help us evolve.
- We are a fully remote company. All team members get to choose whether they work from home or a co-working space close to them. Both options are supported with a dedicated budget
- Self-guided work on interesting projects for international clients
- A flextime schedule to accommodate the needs of caretakers
- A flat organization with little process standing in your way
- Regular company events to meet your team in person
- An international, communicative and supportive team and a flexible work environment
We strongly believe that diversity of experience contributes to a wider outlook of our team that not only improves our working atmosphere but also increases our productivity as a company. We are committed to increasing the diversity of our team wherever we can and encourage everyone to consider becoming a part of it. We ensure that our workshops and other events organized by us are accessible to a wide part of the tech community by ensuring these events are free or by providing diversity sponsorships for people who are yet underrepresented in tech.
