What You'll Do
The Sr. Engineering Manager will report directly to the CTO and will oversee our Page Builder product. In this position you will be responsible for building and leading teams, developing and improving technical process and delivery, and overall engineering best practices.
Responsibilities
Hiring
- Experience creating and managing hiring processes
- Experience hiring remotely and globally
- Knows how to scale teams without losing culture and quality
- Has experience scaling a team
People Management &Career development
- 3+ years of experience managing/leading quality focused engineering teams with 7+ years of engineering experience
- Experience creating performance review/improvement plans
- Managed engineers, project managers, and possibly other roles
- Knowledgeable on metrics and how to measure people/team performance
- Have good communication and people skills
- Designed career ladders for individual contributors, managers, and project managers
- Experience mentoring team members with varying levels of experience
- Have a good process for identifying the strengths and weaknesses of team members
Technical Process &Delivery
- Have some technical, preferably full-stack, background. This role won't be part of technical decisions. The technical overlap is a plus, but not a requirement
- Have experience managing priorities and expectations
- Managed multiple teams
- Focus on the strategic view, but also hands-on with their direct reports
- Track record of execution. Did they help their teams actually hit their goals?
Engineering best practices
- Can describe what an ideal engineering organization looks like
- Have a good take on how Security, QA and infrastructure should be done
- Understand agile, and how each role plays together
Nice to have
- Experience in a startup environment
- Experience working in a modern SaaS (Software as a Service) product company is a big plus
- Experience with ecommerce platforms such as Shopify and BigCommerce
- Working in a highly agile, software development process
- Working experience in a fully remote working environment
- Coding proficiency in React and/or Ruby on Rails
