codeSpark has a newly created opportunity for an Engineer III to join our growing team! This role can be remote based in select US locations* or in Ontario, Canada.

codeSpark is part of the HOMER program, teaching kids ages 6-10 skills for the 21st century like critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative learning through coding.

Reporting in to our Principal Software Engineer, the Engineer III will be responsible for supporting our operations, customer service, marketing, and business development teams. You will help optimize marketing funnels and work closely with product on improving the end-user experience.

You will:

  • Work with React, Node.js, and MongoDB
  • Work closely with product and marketing teams to translate customer needs into technical specifications
  • Integrate and maintain 3rd party platforms (authentication, analytics, attribution, etc.)
  • Develop front-end web pages for marketing, accounts, dashboards (HTML, CSS)
  • Help maintain software, fix bugs, and release updates
  • Architect and implement support tools

Must Haves:

  • 2-4 years of experience in web, game, or related software development
  • Professional experience using JavaScript, React.js, Node.js, or other popular JavaScript frameworks
  • Familiarity with NoSQL database technology such as MongoDB
  • Experience building highly interactive applications using React library, HTML5, and CSS pre- and post- processors
  • Must be able to thrive in a startup environment
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Understanding of cloud concepts and hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (Route53, EC2, S3, Lambda, Elastic Beanstalk, ECS)
  • Computer Science or related degree
  • Experience with subscription products
  • Experience and passion developing products for kids or casual audience

Colorado Only: In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $70,000 to $100,000 + equity + benefits. HOMER considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role responsibilities, work experience, education/training, knowledge, skill, and ability. Other locations will commensurate with similar factors and geographic location.
