What will you do?
- Formulate and define systems scope and objectives through needs analysis and business requirements.
- Manage and administer the study, analysis, and evaluation of current and projected database systems and procedures, as well as the design, implementation, and maintenance of revised or new systems.
- Major aspects of database management include analysis, design, creation, maintenance, security, data backup, data recovery, capacity planning, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, data migration, query tuning, writing advanced SQL, scheduled maintenance, disaster recover, and documentation.
- Develop and establish department standards and procedures, and coordinate the technical support and direction to programming, operations and other departments.
- Overall responsibilities for project status, meetings, reporting, scope changes, financials, administrative and technical issues.
- Primary liaison for Technical &Business teams.
- 24/7 support of production database services to ensure the highest standards of availability resilience, integrity, security and performance required by our business.
- Administration, performance monitoring, reporting, and tuning of MS SQL databases.
- Management and maintenance of backups and recovery procedures
- Installation and maintenance of database server, replication and client environments
What do we ask of you?
- Ability to work non-standard office hours to meet critical maintenance and release schedules.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems independently.
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities effectively.
- Expert knowledge of database security methodologies.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems independently.
- Strong understanding of business continuity and disaster recovery processes and procedures.
- 7+ years as an MS SQL DBA
- 7+ years of experience in SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
- Exceptional experience administering various cloud based multi-Terabyte, 24x7 uptime MS SQL databases as a Systems/Infra DBA required
- Strong experience working with MS SQL in a UNIX environment required
- Strong, proven MS SQL Database Performance Diagnostic skills (at both the SQL and system levels) required
- Extensive experience with Backup and Recovery.
- Self-starter capability, ability to acquire new skills autonomously.
- Demonstrably solid written and verbal communication skills to drive projects to successful conclusion.
Preferred Skills
- Database system experience ie. MS SQL / Postgres
Desired education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or equivalent work experience.
