Job Duties


In this job, you’ll be running a club for 8 students over Zoom with a co-instructor. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Planning out your schedule for your students before each class
  • Teaching short lessons with slides that have been prepared for you.
  • Running the activities in class every day.
  • Organizing and running one-on-one coaching sessions (15 minutes each) with students to help them review concepts and improve their speeches.
  • Making friends with each and every student and connecting with them.
  • Individualizing teaching and activities to every student’s needs.
  • Writing weekly blog posts for parents, and sending them in after class.
  • Giving a mid-month progress update over the phone.
  • Writing an end-of-month lengthy progress updates for parents through email.

Job Requirements
  • You do need to have strong wifi and a computer or laptop that allows you to run classes for 5+ hours a day over the internet. The camera and audio must work well for video-chat on your computer or laptop.
  • You do not need prior debate experience to work at Lumos, although debate experience is very helpful if you are teaching at our Debate Institute program. We will prep all instructors without debate experience on the basics of debate, and assign you into roles that match your strengths and experience.
