Background
The process for buying cars and homes has changed a lot over the last 20 years. But buying an RV? That process really hasn't evolved. Like, at all. I'm setting out to fix that. With my background in online automotive research and discovery, I'm creating a service to help RV buyers discover their dream RV - and then figure out where to buy it.
What I'm looking for
I'm looking for a contract, full stack engineer who can work with me to build and ship an MVP.
I have pieces built in a Rails project with webpacker and a MySQL database. I'm building most of the front end myself (haml, sass, jquery). For pieces of this app, it may make sense to use React instead, but that's something you can evaluate.
Also important is someone who I can collaborate with, and who will propose solid technical solutions. I'm not looking for you to just build what I'm asking - I want your guidance and insight from a technical perspective.
Obviously an interest in (and knowledge of) RVs is extremely useful, since this is a very niche product.
Initial projects
I have two immediate projects that are pretty well-defined:
1. RV lifestyle survey - a wizard that collects input from a prospective RV buyer and saves this info into their account
2. Additions to an existing RV "profile page" template, and the admin side to support it.
There is a lot of data to be collected and presented, so experience with managing, indexing and displaying large volumes of data is important. (It will need to be filtered/searchable in the future.)
After these initial projects, I'm anticipating ongoing work for the right person.
How to apply
Please use the subject line RV Envy MVP so I can filter your message accordingly. It will be useful to see examples of what you've built in the past, along with details about your technical involvements.
Also share your LinkedIn, as well as current availability over the next couple months. If you have any questions about what I've listed above, I'm happy to provide more detail or clarification.
Any experience with RVing is a huge plus!
