We Work Remotely
Tanooki Labs is a product and development studio based in the United States that partners with entrepreneurs to build early stage web and mobile products. We are a fully virtual organization with all team members working 100% remotely.

We’re on a mission to empower entrepreneurs, we’ve assembled an incredible team of product-focused tech talent with decades of combined experience in the tech and startup scenes. We’re relentless in our pursuit of excellent products, happy users, and a reputation as a trusted partner.

We also know that cranking out marketing sites for BigCo is soul-sucking, so we carefully choose products that we’re thrilled to work on and entrepreneurs we love and that we can learn a lot from as they grow their businesses.

We’ve worked at startups and pulled crazy hours, and we know it’s not healthy or sustainable. We don’t just preach work-life balance, we live by it. We respect your “you” time and love hearing about your side projects. We also provide excellent health benefits to make sure you’re well covered if you ever get sick and don’t have to spend time worrying.

We're searching for an experienced, energetic, and talented Product Manager to play a critical role in product strategy and project logistics - while coordinating with our clients and developers to bring complex projects to fruition.

In this role, you’ll be the key point person between the Tanooki Labs team and the founders we work with. Great communication makes this machine run smoothly at all times. We need someone with wonderful instincts and tons of empathy, who can make the entrepreneurs we work with feel at ease. We care deeply about the projects we work on, and the perfect candidate will be passionate about helping those products come to life. Every project we work on is different and will require a different balance of organization, project management skills, product insights, and founder coaching. While the entrepreneur sets the vision for the products we’re building, we often have influence in exactly how we make that happen, and the Product Manager is on the front lines of that process.

Requirements

To do this job well, you'll need:

Experience managing the logistics of multiple large, complex projects. This includes creating and maintaining project plans/scopes/summaries, meeting agendas, and a wide array of project documentation. We primarily follow an agile development process. However, like this rapidly changing industry, we are always looking to improve based on your experience with other management styles and approaches.

Experience with multiple project/task management platforms. We're not too concerned about which ones, just that you have a deep and hands-on understanding of different workflows and toolsets. We primarily use: Harvest, Pivotal Tracker, Trello, amongst others.

Knowledge of the technologies that make the web work and a passion for staying current as the landscape evolves. We feel that as a product manager, knowing how these products are being developed is very important! You don’t have to know how to code, but you should know an API from an NDA, and be able to quickly understand a technical product and how it functions.

A deep respect for the craft associated with each discipline on our team - strategy, product management, front- and back-end engineering, testing, etc. Our people are exceptional at what they do, and mutual respect and collaboration is a critical part of our culture.

A passion for details. Some of the most respected entrepreneurs in NYC trust us to bring their projects to life online and expect us to uphold their extremely high standards. Our PMs excel at taking that client’s vision and turning it into actionable requirements for our developers to realize (user stories, wireframes, etc.).

Respect for autonomy. We respect our employees, give them flexibility, and believe they will do what they are supposed to. We never leave people hanging, but we aren’t micro-managers either.
