Project Manager, part- time, 100% remote
About us:
Tattoo Smart provides forward-thinking tools to tattooers, artists, and designers, empowering them to learn new digital skills and improve their design workflows. We’re a small, dynamic, remote-only team with lots of ideas and never enough time. That’s where you come in….
About you:
We need a whip-smart, resourceful, flexible project manager who wants to bring order and rigorous project management practices into our organization. This doesn’t mean you’ll follow someone else’s formula for project success - you’ll be creating much of our process from scratch. You’ll always be iterating on existing processes to make them the best they can be. You love to make things better, and you find a great deal of satisfaction in knowing that you pulled many pieces together to put something valuable into the world.
About the projects:
There are so many, of varying lengths, some with a whole team, some with just a few people, some with outside partners, some internal-only. Some are visions of a future that doesn’t yet exist, and others are all about getting the work done today. Getting the picture? Your workload will be varied, and you’ll need to decide how you prioritize, but we’ll honor the choices you make about how you work, how you decide what’s important, and we’ll follow your lead when it comes to how all of our projects get started, managed, documented, and completed. You’re the boss.
Okay, let’s get into some qualifications.

Okay, let’s get into some qualifications.
You should have:
- 2-3 years managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders, preferably in a software or service delivery setting
- Some sort of project management certification
- Proficiency with at least one project management software package (Jira, Asana, Monday, etc.)
- Ability to manage at multiple levels in an organization - you can hold both a CEO and an intern accountable to deadlines and priorities
- Comfort exploring new tooling and processes, including commonly-used software that integrates with our PM tool
- (Desired, but not required) an interest in the tattoo community
And now the responsibilities.
- You’ll refine our project management tool (Monday) and existing practice to make it hum with productivity
- You’ll define new processes as they’re needed and teach our team to implement those processes
- You’ll ensure that all projects are running according to plan, help to identify and clear blockers, and make sure that everyone knows what they need to be working on, and when it’s due
- You’ll help the Tattoo Smart team decide what’s most important and prioritize accordingly
- You’ll periodically re-prioritize, as blockers occur or time-sensitive new projects take precedence
- You’ll raise your hand when you see something that you don’t understand
- You’ll make space for long-term, visionary projects while managing the day-to-day projects
- You’ll help the team define the right outcomes for projects, along with any measurements that need to be done to monitor those outcomes after the project is complete
- You’ll work with an unusual audience, tattooers and tattoo collectors, and you’ll develop some proficiency in “speaking their language"
