We Work Remotely
Genous is a tech-enabled, consumer decarbonisation concierge that helps customers take significant steps to reduce their own emissions, with an initial focus on ‘embedded emissions’: home energy efficiency measures (installing insulation, changing to renewable heating, installing micro electricity generation etc) and personal transport (electric vehicles and charge point installation). We are looking for a Lead Developer as we build the next stage of our platform to decarbonise the UK. You will be passionate about building something that has impact, and derives from a strong sense of purpose with the founders, giving you the opportunity to work on innovative concepts.

About you:

  • You will want to work with founders with a strong track record of success, who will match your energy and passion to deliver great products with their ability to shape the product strategy.
  • You will understand the challenges of working in a startup environment, especially early-stage companies and thrive on the culture of transparency and achievement that it can bring.
  • Purpose is something that drives you, your passion for making a difference in your work with a strong interest in climate change will mean this job brings you more than just the usual job satisfaction.
  • Happy to attend occasional team meetings in London or Bristol

Your responsibilities will include :

  • Working to design and architect the backend system, and finding new ways to creatively implement complex algorithms that ensure a great user experience.
  • Writing Clean, Elegant and Testable code that is concise and maintainable
  • Estimating and planning deliverables

Ideally, you will bring skills in the following areas:

  • Technical skills in Typescript, building up Web Apps and some understanding of front-end frameworks like React.js
  • Proven experience as a full-stack or back-end developer, ideally working on apps/web platforms
  • Able to translate ideas into a structured design, not afraid to build quality rather than quickly.
  • Ability to project manage self and others on Agile basis – will need to see through projects from concept to finished product
  • Critical thinking - able to question design, and approach, not afraid to challenge.
  • Passionate about testing your work, and setting standards for others to live up to
  • Self Starting, able to prioritise, estimate and deliver good quality work.

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary and bonus (dependent on experience). Share options in business negotiable.
  • Being in a green start-up means working in a small, close team where you can be part of combatting climate change and make a difference
    • Work from home, flexible working and a supportive working environment
