Scalable Path is looking for a Full-stack JavaScript Developer to join the team and work on a client project. This is a remote, full-time position.

CLIENT COMPANY DESCRIPTION:
The client is a news media organization that produces award-winning journalism in multiple countries around the world.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A large media company in the web publishing business is looking for a full-stack JavaScript developer to join their team.

Your role will encompass the following:
- Full-stack work on their custom server-side Node.js rendering engine for React
- Full-stack work on their publishing systems, including their homegrown content management system and several APIs
- Full-stack work on their ad targeting platform and its related APIs
- Back-end work on various Node.js microservices that power systems across their publishing properties
- Front-end work on custom editorial projects, include off-platform distribution on Google AMP, Facebook Instant Articles, Apple News and other syndication platforms

Qualified candidates will have the following skills and experience:
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field (or equivalent work experience if not)
- At least 3 years working in an engineering organization as a contributing software engineer
- Ability to program JavaScript and its various flavors: es6, TypeScript, React, and Node.js
- Strong knowledge of CSS
- Experience working on the command line on unix systems (Mac OS counts!)
- Experience with version control systems, such as Git
- Ability to collaborate with multiple engineering teams using disparate codebases

The ideal candidate will additionally have the following:
- Ability to program Java/Scala
- Ability to program Ruby/Rails
- Understanding of functional programming and asynchronous code execution
- Experience with A/B testing platforms
- Experience with third-party publishing platforms, like Google AMP, Facebook Instant Articles or Apple News

In addition to a daily scrum on Slack, there is a weekly standup call on Google Hangouts at 10:30am ET on Mondays.

RELATIONSHIPS - WHO YOU'LL BE WORKING WITH:
You will be reporting to the Director of Engineering and will be joining an incredibly talented and dedicated team of 16 other engineers around the world. There is an existing daily meeting at 8:30am America/New York (-05:00) EST.
