HTTPie is an early-stage startup building tools for developers and rethinking the human-to-API relationship from first principles. We recently raised a $6.5M Seed Round (from Coatue, Blossom Capital, Addition, the founders of Monzo, Intercom, and others). Now we’re building out our founding Engineering &Product Team—that’s where you come in!

We’re looking for a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to help us shape the future of API tools.

What you’ll do

Collaborate with the team to build a product for API developers and consumers like yourself
Deliver performant, testable, maintainable, and high-quality code on frontend and backend
Implement features with a focus on simplicity and top-notch user experience
Take operational responsibility for the parts that you develop
Have a lot of autonomy and fun while doing so

You’ll be a great addition to the team if you have

At least 5 years of software engineering experience
Experience with JavaScript and React
Solid understanding of modern coding, testing, debugging, and automation techniques
Solid understanding of HTTP and modern APIs
Passion for developer tools and sense for what makes them amazing
Passion for simplicity, delightful user experience, and an eye for design
Good sense for when to choose a robust vs. minimal solution to move fast
Ability to comfortably navigate the ladder of abstraction
Strong communication skills, especially in writing
Eagerness to learn and share

Bonus points

Experience with TypeScript, Next.js, Vercel, Electron/PWAs, WebAssembly
Experience with Python, Rust, or Go
Experience with building distributed systems, AWS ecosystem, Terraform
Experience building a technology product
Early-stage startup experience
Open-source development experience
History of side projects
