Engineering Manager (Core/Infrastructure)

We make it really easy for creators and brands to bring their discussions, members, and content all into one place.We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Core team, which is responsible for core product features such as posts/comments, spaces, notifications, chat, and our API — as well as Infrastructure and QA.This is a 100% remote role. We're now a fully remote team of 65 (and growing!) based in the U.S., Colombia, Portugal, India, Argentina, Slovenia, and other countries. Responsibilities
As Engineering Manager at Circle, you will:
  • Partner up with the Lead Engineer (Core/Infrastructure) to serve as an engineering management counter-part for the team, while they lead technical efforts
  • Help establish processes and drive initiatives that result in operational and cultural improvements across the Core engineering team to achieve operational excellence.
  • Examples: hiring and onboarding processes, capacity planning, resource planning, performance evaluations
  • While you will not be expected to write code, you will be expected to have a working knowledge of our architecture and have the technical ability to provide input on technical strategy
  • Coach and mentor 4-8 team members to help them grow and develop their careers
  • Partner with engineering leadership to help determine engineering team-wide strategy and tackle inefficiencies around hiring, career development, policies, budgets, etc
  • Ensure the successful and timely execution of team projects and operations


Who we're looking for
You’ll be a great fit if you have:
  • 5+ years of engineering experience, with 2+ years in engineering management leading highly effective teams
  • Managed teams with a track record of delivering high quality products in scalable web applications
  • Hired and managed individual contributors with a focus on performance and career development
  • An ability to thrive in ambiguity and make forward progress in situations when given minimal guidance
  • The relentless drive for continuous improvement and ownership with proven ability to instill in their team
  • Strong judgement around people and processes so that you can inspire a high level of trust within the team
  • A desire to work in an environment which values speed of iteration and individual autonomy
