The Role and Team:
At Nacelle, we organize the engineering department into full-stack, value-stream engineering squads. We are a passionate engineering team of 8 and will be rapidly growing to a team size of nearly 30 by the end of 2021. As our Engineering Manager, you will oversee the growth and execution of these squads to ensure each performs exceptionally, as measured by our OKRs. This role reports to the VP of Engineering.
You will work closely with squad leaders and contributors as well as cross-functionally with stakeholders within the organization. While this role does not specifically require hands-on technical contribution, a successful candidate will understand, promote and mature our DevOps culture, while never losing sight of customer value.
Responsibilities Include:
- Attract and hire world-class engineering talent
- Define and execute onboarding process and standards for new engineering team members
- Oversee the execution of the software development lifecycle across squads to ensure each achieves their target OKRs
- Collaborate with leadership to define standards of engineering and operational excellence
- Actively promote our culture of kaizen (continuous learning)
- Ensure cross-department transparency through well-defined processes and communications
Skills &Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in a technology leadership role
- Experience in a fast-paced VC-backed startup SaaS environment
- Experience building full-stack value-stream teams
- Solid understanding of principles behind a strong DevOps culture
- Must possess a strong customer-centric philosophy
- Must possess a disciplined approach to data-driven execution
- Have some technical background in a development discipline such as node.js, java, etc.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in the eCommerce industry
- Some technical experience with the typescript/ javascript/ node.js ecosystem
- Experience with highly scalable event-driven architectures
- Familiarity with basic ITIL (incident/problem management)
