To support us during an exciting time of growth and expansion we are looking for a hands-on-oriented and technically strong Data-Driven Marketing and Analytics Engineer.
The Interaction Design Foundation (IxDF) is the world’s leading online design school. We’re market leaders because the world's leading design experts work with us to create our content and help teach our students.
We’re proud to say that we’ve put together an amazing organization where people support, inspire, and challenge each other every day. Not only that, but we have a mission to help build a better future for millions of people around the world.
We are primarily a remote company with around 40 employees, spread across 30 countries. We’re growing fast and set on course to grow even faster. But something’s missing and we think it could be you.
What you will be doing
We’re looking for an amazing Data-Driven Marketing and Analytics Engineer deeply versed in data analysis, funnel optimization, ad optimization and the most intricate aspects of GA4 and Google Tag Manager (GTM).
You'll be working alongside ambitious, senior developers and marketers where only A-players can thrive. This role is definitely not for the faint-hearted or the average;it's a calling to a true nerd of digital marketing who thrives in the deep end of technical complexity.
Here are some examples of what we envision you’ll be working on, depending on your skillset:
- In general terms, your goal is to distill actionable insights from data, define pragmatic and concrete suggestions for improvements based on those insights, and lastly implement your suggested improvements with the help of your colleagues. Improvements range across member acquisition, engagement, product design, user experience, paid advertisement, retention strategies, decision making and much more.
- From the bottom of your heart, you believe “ideas and strategy are worthless without execution”. That’s why you’ll be leading the full cycle from analysis, over requirement specification, and all the way to technical execution and implementation. In collaboration with our amazing designers, marketers, and developers, of course.
- Build dashboards and reports for both your own team and the wider organization.
- Analyze and optimize funnels and flows to increase acquisition and retention rates, as well as the engagement and learning experience of our students.
- Perform deep dive analysis and subsequent improvements across all stages of the customer funnel and lifecycle.
- Spear-head and own our A/B testing practice from hypothesis formation, technical setup, data analysis, distillation of actionable insights and concrete suggestions, and all the way to implementation of said suggestions.
- Gradually become the owner of all analytical tools and processes within the organization.
- Contribute to projects and initiatives in collaboration with the broader marketing and design team.
- Help launch and guide new, unexplored paid ad channels, such as TikTok.
- Refine segmentation models for use in analytics, paid ads or to increase on-site engagement and learning (for our course takers).
- Together with our paid ads team, co-develop the data analysis that will help them scale our ads and optimize ad spend.
- In GA4, develop sophisticated tracking solutions using Custom Dimensions, Enhanced Ecommerce, and User ID features.
- In GTM, maintain and implement advanced features such as Custom JavaScript Variables, Data Layer manipulation and continually improve our server-side GTM setup. Our GTM interacts with the APIs of major ad platforms like Google, META, LinkedIn, and X, and you’ll be responsible for its continual improvement, data integrity, and testing. You’ll also be responsible for attribution modeling, data reconciliationand verification so we know that ad platforms are not overattributing themselves.
About You
- You’re passionate about diving into complex, technically advanced, data-driven challenges and emerge with pragmatic and concrete suggestions for improvements.
- You’ve got substantial experience with subscription/recurring revenue business models and/or e-commerce.
- You're a technical virtuoso in GA4 and GTM and have ample experience in setting up server-side tagging. You understand cookie-less tracking in the context of increasing privacy regulations and ad blockers.
- Strong experience with A/B testing and data-driven marketing.
- You’re an analytical problem solver with a track record of success in developing and optimizing marketing strategies and programs that drive customer acquisition and engagement.
- You’ve got excellent project management skills, with the ability to take initiative and drive results. You thrive when you “get stuff done” and you rarely procrastinate.
- You can use both data as well as intuition and creative judgment for tactical decision making.
- You’re able to engage in high-level marketing and product discussions and contribute meaningfully.
- You uphold ethical standards and act with honesty and transparency in all professional interactions, fostering trust and credibility.
- You approach your work with a sense of modesty and humbleness and understand that continuous learning is essential for professional growth.
- You recognize and appreciate diverse perspectives, ensuring that every team member feels heard and respected for their unique insights.
Bonus Points
You get bonus points…:
- if you’ve worked with paid ads (PPC) and managed/optimized ad accounts.
- if you’ve got strong skills in micro-copy and fine-tuning hooks.
- if you have management experience (even if you don’t enjoy being a manager).
- if you have strong SEO skills.
- if you have project management experience.
What can we offer?
- Get the satisfying responsibility of the full lifecycle from strategy and analysis all the way to technical execution and implementation.
- A full-time position, within a fully remote organization. Daily video-based contact with your colleagues from elsewhere on the planet, and you’ll get to meet them on team trips 1–2 times per year.
- The satisfying responsibility of the full lifecycle from strategy and analysis all the way to technical execution and implementation.
- Forget fluffy titles, political agendas and corporate drama. Your colleagues value your character, work ethic, and what you actually achieve. Junior or senior, if you embody old-school virtues of always striving to become the best version of yourself, you'll thrive at the IxDF.
- Work with a highly scalable impact-driven model where we’ve consistently created more than 50% growth year-on-year since 2013. Bootstrapped with zero investment capital but built purely on consistency over time and the conviction that affordable design education can improve the quality of life of humankind.
- Work in a company where the distance between idea and execution is minimal. We’re a highly agile organization with zero bureaucracy or corporate politics – but with a high level of orderliness and efficiency.
- Have the chance to feel the impact of helping an ever-growing design education brand empower and enrich the lives of millions of people.
- Work in a company culture where idealism meets high performance and excellence. To help us improve the world (and yourself in the process), you’ll need grit, work ethic, long-term thinking, and self-discipline.
- Work with people who have a hands-on attitude and a bias towards action as opposed to fluff-filled, unrealistic strategies. You’ll need crisp execution skills yourself and the ability to impress your colleagues with concrete results, just like they’ll impress you.
