Our AWS Architect will be responsible for working with other members of the Engineering Architecture team to architect solutions that align with AWS best practices for our AWS clients. You will also support the Solutions Architecture team in pre-sales activity as well as the engineering and delivery teams during implementation. In addition, this role will serve as a subject matter expert for other teams in the organization and point of escalation for support teams.

This role requires dedication to first-class support and a solid commitment of quality to clients and our company. You also possess the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable interacting with vendors and clients. We architect cloud environments to high standards with client end goals in mind. Deft is centered around a core DevOps philosophy. This enables us to provide solutions to clients that deliver continuous integration, automate infrastructure provisioning and management, and reduce risk.

Do:

  • Interface with clients, vendors, and internal teams. Function as an L3 escalation point for Engineering Support staff on complex tickets
  • Assist with pre-sales motion including RFPs, client presentations, and engaging with clients as needed from initial pre-sales calls through SOW creation, and solution implementation
  • Perform in-depth discovery of client on-prem and cloud environments, using the AWS Well Architected Framework and the AWS Application Discovery Service
  • Produce detailed discovery, migration, and remediation reports
  • Document current and future environment states via architecture diagrams and corresponding narratives
  • Develop client cloud strategies that are aligned with client’s business objectives with a focus on best practices and alignment with our Managed Services offering
  • Provide leadership in DevOps and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) methodologies including configuration management, change control, and full repeatability
  • Provide accurate project timeline estimates and timely task completion with an eye towards ways to improve and grow the business, its products, and develop personal strengths

Deliver:

  • Establish yourself as a technical leader by providing thought leadership, evangelism, and helping drive the technical direction of the organization;especially focused on our core DevOps, Agile, and cloud philosophies
  • Adhere to change control process and ensure compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to marketing efforts through Deft blog submissions, white papers, and high-touch client engagements
  • Function as a subject matter expert for the AWS practice
  • Drive evolution of our AWS practice and product offerings
  • Represent Deft through public speaking engagements, participation in conferences or organizations, and demonstrate pride &passion for the technology and workmanship

I’m interested…is this the job for me? We are looking for:

A minimum of four years of experience in IT infrastructure architecture or full stack development is preferred in addition to four years of experience with server operating systems (Linux, Windows Server) Expert in AWS core services including EC2, VPC, ECS, Lambda, S3, RDS, CloudFront, autoscaling, etc. Familiarity with other AWS service offerings and their functions Understanding of AWS costs and their influence on architecture choices Strong understanding of cloud and infrastructure components (server, storage, network, data, and applications) to deliver end-to-end cloud infrastructure architectures, designs, and recommendations Proficient with cloud IaC technologies (CloudFormation, Terraform, etc.) Mastery of configuration management tools (Salt, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, etc.) Strong experience with, and a strong evangelist for, automation and repeatable deployments through DevOps, CI/CD, version control (git), and IaC that enable full-stack repeatability Ability to shift between low-level tasks that require strong attention to detail and being able to view challenges and projects from a “big picture” perspective. Able to accurately estimate time and tasks necessary to complete a project Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working with client business and technical teams Understands and can articulate technical ideas to non-technical people Familiarity working in an iterative work environment such as Agile or Kanban a plus

AWS Certified Solutions Architect –Professional OR AWS Certified DevOps Engineer –Professional)
