Ansible Systems Engineer - remote

The Opportunity:

We are looking for an Ansible Systems Engineer to join our Infrastructure Team. This is currently a work from home position, with local travel to Phoenix Metro data centers as needed.

The interview process will include a question and answer session to determine the candidate's level of familiarity with Ansible and other related concepts.

The Day to Day:

  • Converting existing system configurations to Ansible deployments
  • Testing new Ansible deployments
  • Performing role upgrades
  • Testing operational behavior after making changes
  • Performing on-site data center work or off hours support as needed
  • Performing other systems maintenance as needed

Core Requirements (must have all of these items):

  • Strong working knowledge of using Ansible for configuration management (must be familiar with creating roles from scratch)
  • Strong working knowledge of Linux and the various conventions/software used (emphasis on Ubuntu/Debian/systemd)
  • Development experience in Python and Bash (Node.js &other languages are a plus)
  • Ability to create reliable tools or simple scripts in Python &Bash (accepts arguments, simple data conversions, enumerates system info, etc)
  • Familiarity with Git version control (Gitlab experience a plus)

Additional Skills:

  • Working knowledge of networking concepts and implementation, and DNS
  • Ability to troubleshoot system issues from remote and onsite
  • Working knowledge of hypervisors
  • Familiarly with and adherence to information security best practices
  • Experience with high availability environments

Other Job Requirements (must have all of these items):

  • Ability to perform occasional on-site data center work or off hours support as needed
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment, and physically rack and cable network and server hardware
  • Must be a self starter with minimal supervision required
  • Must live in the Phoenix, Arizona metro area
  • Must be able to pass a thorough background check
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Bonus Points:

  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure is a plus
  • Active or former United States security clearance is a major differentiator
