The Role

Bitly is looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer who will play a pivotal role in upholding the excellence of our customer experiences by ensuring the quality of the features and services that power them.

This position will primarily involve designing and conducting Manual test scenarios across a diverse range of products and technologies. You’ll closely collaborate with both the Engineering and Quality Assurance teams to ensure our quality assurance strategy contributes to the overall success of our company.

As a vital member of the quality team, you will work in close coordination with the engineering and product departments, shaping the future of Bitly’s products. You will be closely aligned with specific areas of ownership within the engineering and product teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Software Understanding: Develop a deep understanding of Bitly’s software platform and its underlying architecture.
  • Quality Delivery: Contribute significantly to delivering high-quality products to our valued customers.
  • Regression Testing: Contribute to and maintain a suite of manual regression tests to safeguard the stability and functionality of our products.
  • Test Suite Ownership: Take ownership of specific segments of the regression test suite and maintain its relevance by aligning it with the latest product features.
  • Exploratory Testing: Execute exploratory tests across diverse operating systems and browsers, diligently documenting any new use cases in our comprehensive test bed.
  • Problem Resolution: Investigate and identify the root causes of issues found during development or reported by users, facilitating their timely resolution.
  • Quality Reporting: Regularly report to stakeholders on the current production quality and provide transparency regarding what has and hasn’t been tested prior to each feature release.
  • Manual Testing: Define and execute manual test cases around code changes introduced by delivery teams as part of the Sprint process.

    • Self-Motivated: A self-motivated problem solver capable of independently executing complex tasks with limited instruction.
    • Agile Experience: Experience working in an Agile environment, adapting to changing requirements and contributing to iterative development.
    • Quality Advocate: A staunch advocate for quality and user experience, striving to deliver products that meet and exceed user expectations.
    • Curiosity and Problem-Solving: An inquisitive mind and continuous curiosity that drives you toward creative and effective problem-solving.
    • SQL Proficiency: Comfort and proficiency in writing SQL queries for database testing and validation.
    • Technical Skills: Experience working in a virtual machine (VM) environment and with command-line interfaces.

        The annual cash compensation range for this position is below. Final compensation will be determined based on experience and skills and may vary from the range listed.

        Pay Range

        $120,000—$130,000 USD
