Members of Best Egg’s Engineering and Enterprise Architecture team partner with key stakeholders, including consumers, marketers, CX researchers, and problem advocates across the enterprise to optimize short- and long-term value streams. The Job: The Director II, Software Engineering Mobile will be empowered to establish Best Egg’s future mobile engineering team(s), and work in partnership with a prestigious on/near shore engineering agency, launching Best Egg’s first multi-product mobile application. This unified digital experience will connect our full suite of products, using every product to help limited savings customers navigate their everyday financial lives. Best Egg strives to create an easy, flexible, and humanized customer experience that uses every touchpoint, including mobile, as an opportunity to help customers achieve their goals and build trust to increase customer lifetime value. In this role, you’ll be considered a critical thought-leader and visionary and will join technology’s senior leadership team of principal engineers and enterprise architects, reporting directly to the Managing Director of Engineering and Architecture. You will operate as Best Egg’s top expert in all mobile development concerns and will drive the expansions of the engineering team, the initiation of both an iOS and Android native application, and define appropriate standards, engineering pipelines, and processes in partnership with our external agency. You will also help shape the future relationship with external agencies as we migrate execution-ownership to internal teams. You will also be well supported by and partner with expert level Product Managers and Revenue Directors who equally own the success of our mobile endeavors.

Engineering Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, or equivalent work experience
  • 6+ years experience as a senior software engineer or engineering leader/manager.
  • 4+ years experience architecting, developing, and maintaining high-quality intuitive native mobile iOS applications using Swift and common iOS frameworks.
  • Command of iOS app design principles, common frameworks, best practices, Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines, and integration with AWS powered RESTful backend distributed micro-services and middleware.
  • Command of Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, and Test Automation constructs and procedures for mobile applications.
  • Experience with application performance instrumentation and digital/mobile analytics techniques.
  • Experience in financial services industry a plus.
  • Capable of representing the engineering team(s) when collaboration with senior cross-functional leaders including Sr. Product Managers, Principal Engineers, and Business Line General Managers.
  • Interpret, confirm, and/or challenge business/product requirements and document technical considerations/tradeoffs.

        In addition to semi-monthly salary payments, this position is also eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance. Yearly incentive bonus target 25% of base salary. This position may also be eligible for a long-term cash and/or equity incentives at a target of 10%.

        Salary: $149,500 –$180,000 a year
