Job Purpose

The Test Engineer is responsible for quality testing the required development based on the requirements specification before the release to customers. The tester needs to interact with the business stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand payroll compliance requirements. The tester needs to ensure that once technical specifications are applied by the Development team these specifications are rigorously tested to ensure accuracy. A tester is required to be inquisitive with an analytical mind. A high level of attention while working under pressure to release software within the set deadline is needed. Having a logical approach to problem-solving will enable a tester to do his/her job more effectively. The tester should have a positive attitude, be committed to producing quality software products, and be able to readily adapt to new technologies and techniques.

Duties and Responsibilities

        • Continuously enhance job knowledge through active participation in compliance seminars and training sessions, and attend courses to stay updated on prevailing QA principles and emerging trends.
        • Prepare personal development plans in conjunction with the Manager and implement them in line with business requirements.

          Teamwork

          • Ensures teamwork to achieve shared goals.
          • Participate in brainstorming and retrospective sessions.

            Compliance Best Practice

            • Ensure PaySpace ISMS Standards are always adhered to.
            • Ensures an accuracy rate of 97% or more across areas of accountability.
            • Ensures testing plan stays current based on the issuance of new or revised policies and procedures, modifications to existing rules and regulations, and enactment of new rules and regulations.
            • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk and escalate to the Head of Compliance for resolution.

              Process Improvement

              • Identify ways to enhance compliance-related processes by identifying touch points across the business in efforts to improve efficiencies.
              • Communicates continually with the Head of Compliance, developers, and solution designers on areas of development or issues experienced during the development cycle.
              • Communicate user experience improvement recommendations to the team.

                Relationship Building

                • Actively participate as a member of the PaySpace Product Compliance Team.
                • Coordinate with the business teams to resolve identified issues.

                  Training and Coaching

                  • Ensure knowledge gaps are identified in the greater team to improve the quality of support.

                    Compliance Operations

                    • Carefully works through requirement specifications for development.
                    • Tests all areas of the development based on the requirement specification.
                    • Logs all bugs, requests, or proposals in the correct format on PaySpace Microsoft Team Foundation Server.
                    • Ensures that all assigned projects are completed within the allocated timeframe determined by the planning meeting.
                    • Discuss any issues regarding development schedules or timelines within advance.

                      Documents Library/Hub

                      • Extensive and specific testing documents with relevant scenarios and companies.
                      • Update the Product User Guide for allocated countries.

                        Reporting

                        • Report daily in stand-up on all compliance matters.

                          Requirements

                          • Relevant tertiary qualification
                          • Thorough understanding of Payroll and HR legislation that regulates Payroll and HR processes.
                          • Thorough understanding of the process of analysing business requirements within the development environment.
                          • Software product functional testing (advantage).
                          • Experience with PaySpace software (advantage).
