Technical Project Manager
Remote
The Role
If you’re looking at this, you’re a project manager –so we can skip past the usual blah, blah, blah about what applies to any PM and get on to what really matters to you, and to us.
What matters most in this role is that you’re respected by your teammates because you’re exceptionally organized, willing to go the extra mile to help them, are able to identify and address potential issues to progress early on, and that you’re able to clearly communicate with each person on your team. And, just as importantly, you’re a nice guy/girl, ‘cause no one wants to be led by an jerk.
The difference between a good PM and a great PM is nuanced and subtle, yet the result is anything but. If you’re THE PM we’re looking for, you’ll get that –and have some clear examples from your experience that can illustrate the point.
Ultimately you’re tasked with getting the best performance from a development team, which means you need to be able to build solid relationships with each member, whether it’s a developer, a product manager, or a designer. That takes some serious people skills.
You’ve done this before. You’ve shown that you’re capable of managing a team within the context of a clear dev process. You have performance metrics you look at consistently to let you know if the project (and individuals) are tracking as they should be. You get the science of incremental process improvement and then you add your own personal special sauce to make things flow.
And hey, it’s ok to be a bit weird. Weird adorable is good and truth be told, we’re an odd, adorable bunch. Weird annoying just doesn’t work. If you don’t know the difference, you’ll be happier elsewhere.
The Project
We help small business owners in the massage and wellness space succeed with our Saas software. We genuinely care about the good our work does. Our customers love us and appreciate us. We know it because they tell us, which makes us want to help them that much more.
We’re not a huge organization, but we’re not tiny either. We have 9,000 subscribers and the full team consists of roughly 25 folks spread across support, product, marketing and development departments. Our office is in beautiful Charleston, SC, and you’re welcome to join us here if you like. If you’d rather work remotely from anywhere in the U.S., that’s cool too.
Our dev team is split between Charleston and Ukraine and we’ve been working this way for the better part of a decade now. It works well, but unless you like the wee hours of the morning, you may be more comfortable living in Eastern Standard Time.
We’re starting to build a second development team. In time, that means you’ll be overseeing two teams, but for now it’s just a single team. Joining us now has the added advantage of playing a key role in helping us interview and select members for our second dev team.
After reading through this and if you feel we’d be a good fit, please waste no time in contacting us. We’re eager to meet you.
