Software Engineering Manager/Director - remote

SteepRock is looking for an innovative Software Leader to join and lead our dynamic team. The successful candidate will lead an exceptional established team of remote developers working on pure-python software applications in the Pharmaceutical space with the goal of successfully driving product architecture, planning and execution across the 20-year old organization. Using your strong leadership skills and proven understanding of full-stack software development, you will thrive in our fast-paced environment. You will work directly with Executive management to focus and drive the entire engineering team, implementing our ground-breaking technology vision that currently serves a global high-impact industry!

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and mentor a talented team of developers
  • Curate methodology and work collaboratively across a driven and focused software development team
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver value to clients
  • Build, prioritize, communicate, lead, and execute roadmaps, project plans, and commitments
  • Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance goals to management
  • Work closely with engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach
  • Foster a culture of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics
  • Propose and implement new projects or recommend system improvements
  • Bring creative ideas to the table every day, in order to find innovative ways of accomplishing our customer objectives
  • Set clear, measurable quality goals for the organization in a data-driven way
  • Develop training and documentation, supporting your team development

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • MS or BS in Computer Science
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Validated experience leading successful teams through development to execution
  • Understanding of the full software development lifecycle including Test Driven Development
  • Experience in Agile Methodology
  • Software skills in Python, React, Redux and Javascript a big plus
  • Ability to connect with cross-functional teams with technical and credible depth
  • Ability to prioritize with results-oriented and conflicting demands
  • Ability to hire, mentor and manage the performance of team members
  • Ability to connect and communicate with credibility at all levels
  • Resource planning with the ability to see the big picture
