Position Overview

Work Responsibilities

  • As a QA/Test Engineer, you will be part of the process of developing new features and improving current features of the Mercari app from the customers’point of view.

  • Working in a fast-paced, quality-focused environment, you will be involved in quality-assurance related activities throughout the entire development process, from planning to final release, while understanding the overall development process.

  • Reviewing and providing feedback for plans/specs created by product managers

  • Designing/implementing tests for automation testing

  • Developing/improving processes for quality-assurance related activities

  • Carrying out quality analysis using quantitative/qualitative data to suggest improvements to developments teams

  • Collaborating with third-party contractors to build a system for quality assurance

Bold Challenges

  • In this position, you will be responsible for quality assurance for Mercari, a marketplace app with 18 million monthly active users.

  • You will be responsible not only for testing for quality assurance, but also various kinds of tasks such as understanding customer issues, developing processes, analyzing data, and creating quality guidelines in order to assure quality in the overall development process.

  • Apart from that, this position will allow you to think about quality from the customer’s point of view and how to assure quality from scratch.

Required Experience

  • 3 years+ experience testing smartphone apps and web systems (designing/implementing tests, test management, optimizing tests)

  • 3+ years experience creating/coding automated testing (ex: Espresso, XCUITest, PlayWright)

  • Ability to communicate with PMs/engineers in development teams and members in QA teams to solve issues

  • Experience in solving problems and improving processes in your team

Preferred Experience

  • QA experience in working within an Agile Scrum based development process

  • Experience in development web / smartphone apps

  • Selection of test tools or developing them yourself

  • Experience in performance testing, security testing, and internationalization testing

  • Software development experience in a CI/CD environment

  • Experience in quality analysis

Working Conditions

Employment Status

Full-time

  • Probationary period: First 3 months after joining the company. (During this period your contract conditions will be the same as that of a permanent employee.)

Office

Roppongi

  • Smoking is prohibited within our offices

  • Mercari has introduced a work style policy called “Your Choice.”Each member is free to choose whether they want to work in the office or work fully remote. *Exceptions made for certain kinds of work.

Work Hours

  • Scheduled working hours: 10 AM –7 PM

  • Currently, due to COVID-19 pandemic, we have introduced a full-flex system without core time to increase the choice of working hours and allow for more flexible working styles. (*does not apply to all positions)

  • Two days off per week (as well as national holidays, New Year's break, etc.)

Salary

  • Annual salary paid in 12 monthly installments (including fixed overtime allowance)
