The company is seeking an experienced software architect to build a visionary SaaS (software-as-a-service) educational platform that will change an entire profession and play a positive role in the careers of hundreds of thousands of people in the first few years alone. This person will report to the chief product officer and will play a critical role as part of a new integrated product team focused. The people behind War on the Rocks form a tight-knit team. A team ethos and exceptional communication skills are therefore critical.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Design the software stack from the ground up with the aid of in-house and contracted talent, to be recruited by you and the director of product
• Plan a development cycle
• Hone functional and non-functional requirements
• Oversee a development pipeline and testing process with the director of product
• Create internal tools, systems, and services for all developers engineers (contacted and, later, in-house) to use
• Design the product stack
• Fix problems and solve the issues that contributed to them when things go wrong
• Drive strategic design choices across all aspects of product development
• Propose and develop technical standards, including coding standards, tools, or platforms
• Provide technical guidance and coaching to developers and engineers
