KidPass has a newly created opportunity for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our growing team! This role can be remote based in select US locations*.

Reporting into our Director of Engineering, the Senior Backend Software Engineer will lead on the technical integration of our various products. This engineer will work closely with our product team to help scope out stories and epics, and serve as a technical lead on scrum teams to help drive complex projects to successful completion. This engineer will work mainly on our backend API web services and facilitate communication between the different products in order to improve the end user experience. The KidPass engineering team runs an agile software development practice that prioritizes frequent releases, maintaining and increasing velocity, working software, and prioritizes the projects/epics with the most strategic value.
You will:
- Advocate for best practices and technologies
- Look for ways to make KidPass better every day
- Contribute in daily stand-ups and our version of Scrum
- Ensure high-quality delivery each sprint-- breaking down features into small, deployable stories
- Participate in code reviews
- Serve on scrum teams as an engineering lead
- Lead on the technical integration of our products
Must Haves:
- Minimum 5 years of experience
- Expertise in RESTful API design
- Familiar with containerization (Docker)
- Familiar with Laravel
- Proficient in PHP 7.x
- Proficient in SQL
- Proficient in Git
- Have served as technical lead on various projects
- Familiar with unit testing and integration testing
- Passionate about high-quality code
- Passionate about shipping code
- Motivated, can-do attitude, and ability to get things done while working independently and as part of a team
Nice-to-Haves:
- Computer Science or related degree
- Experience with subscription products
- Experience working with payment processing APIs

Colorado Only: In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $120,000 to $130,000 + equity + benefits. HOMER considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role responsibilities, work experience, education/training, knowledge, skill, and ability. Other locations will commensurate with similar factors and geographic location.
