WP White Security is a software startup that develops a number of WordPress security and administration plugins. Our plugins are installed on more than 350,000 websites and help website administrators and managers improve the management and security of their websites and users.
We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic WordPress plugin developer to join our growing remote team of dedicated professionals committed to making the web a safer place.
Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Designing and documenting new features
- Writing code, bug fixing and refactoring / improving existing code
- Ensure new and changed code is thoroughly tested and well documented
- Help / work with other developers to solve bugs, and also development and product design issues
- Conducting peer code reviews and giving feedback
- Interacting with the support team and helping them resolve customer issues
- Working with the rest of the team for knowledge sharing and product work
Requirements
- excellent verbal and written English
- Organized, methodological and can work with very little or no supervision
- 5+ years’ experience working as a PHP / WordPress plugin developer (mostly back-end development)
- Familiarity with the best practices for WordPress plugin development
- Good understanding of Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP (LAMP) environments
- Experience in efficient database usage
- Hard working and passionate – we are a young start-up
- Knowledge of version control using Git
- Good understanding of WordPress / application security
- Ability to debug your own code and that of others
- Experience in using debugging tools
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to communicate issues to the team
- Willing to adapt to the existing processes (any feedback and improvement suggestions are welcome, of course)
- Be available for work during European time zone hours from Monday to Friday
Bonus points if you have
- Hands on experience with testing automation and writing testable code (unit testing) etc
- Experience with build tools and dependency management – gulp, npm, webpack and composer
- Ability to automate processes using GitHub Actions and GitHub workflows
- Strong background in scalable database usage with MySQL
- Good skills in react.js and jQuery
- Familiarity with WordPress coding standards
