Our clients are making an impact on the world through their innovative projects in the government's SBIR/STTR programs. These projects have very strict accounting standards, and we take care of the setup and ongoing accounting for them, along with handling the non-government accounting for the rest of their business.
Team 80 unburdens our clients from the routine 80% of their work that is not income-producing (e.g., payables, receivables, benefits, etc.), allowing them to focus on the unique 20% that creates revenue. What we’ll expect from you and what you'll be doing:
- Using your strong project accounting knowledge and experience to handle the government / project cost accounting for our clients to meet regulations for their SBIR and STTR grants
- Demonstrating your fantastic active listening and communication skills (both verbal and written), with the ability to explain accounting data and concepts simply via conversations with business owners (our clients) and providing meaningful analysis of the financial data critical to their success
- Using your excellent analytical and numerical reasoning skills to create and analyze financial reports for clients, including P&L, GL Detail, Balance Sheet, AP and AR Aging, etc.
- Leveraging your passion for helping others, accounting, customer service, and solving problems to handle critical accounting functions for multiple clients
- Demonstrating your enthusiasm for technology to increase efficiencies to increase our internal efficiencies and deliver added value to our clients
Requirements:
- 5+ years professional experience, with 2+ years experience in project cost accounting
- Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience and classes
- Authorization to work in the US
- Strong computer proficiency with advanced skills in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, accounting software, and the ability to learn new software quickly
- Strong organization skills, with impeccable attention to detail, excellent proactive communication, planning, follow up, prioritization, time management, and managing expectations
- Dependable and responsible self-starter, with a strong work ethic, team focus, and cooperative working style, with with a desire for continuous improvement
- Preferred (but not required): Experience with Xero, Quickbooks, Bill.com, Expensify, Paychex, and/or Gusto or similar systems
- Knowledge/experience with government accounting (especially SBIR and/or STTR grants) is a plus, but not required.
Compensation is $60-70K base salary depending on skills and experience, with the potential to earn approximately $10-15K in additional bonuses based on the number of clients you choose to take on (while maintaining a workweek that does not go beyond 40 hours), plus the generous benefits listed above.
