We are looking for a freelancer or employee to work on the Java source code of the open source project Trino. We are open to discuss both part-time and full-time commitments.

We are looking for someone with prior experience using, deploying and maintaining Presto or Trino, with a good understanding of the Trino architecture (Coordinator, Workers ), as well as the code structure of Trino and its functionality. Ideally you have worked on the source code or even contributed to Presto or Trino.

We are looking for a very skilled Java developer with a good understanding of data engineering stacks, the modern data stack, and how Trino is used to e.g. query a data warehouse or data lake. You have a very good understanding of distributed systems, cloud infrastructures (AWS), building scalable and secure backends, testing and working with open source code.

We want to make changes to the Trino code, initially to dynamically load catalogs. We are also looking into Apache Calcite (also Java) to optionally work on that source code too.

Ideally we are looking for a long term relationship to work on Trino, including taking ownership of deployment of Trino, performance tuning etc.

Thanks for reading !
