Lead Systems Engineer - remote
About the Position
GPM’s Lead System Engineer serves an important role to ensure GPM’s systems are designed, configured, and deployed securely through success in scheduling and completing tasks, assisting with problem escalations, and ensuring departmental goals are met. Reporting to the Information Technology and Security Director, you are responsible for individual work contributions and acting as a mentor/team leader supporting a team of network, system and desktop support engineers in scheduling and completing tasks, assisting with problem escalation and ensuring departmental goals are met.
What You’ll Do
- Manage VMware virtual windows servers and storage infrastructure across the enterprise
- Ensure system planning, security principles, and general system management best practices are followed
- Assess server infrastructure and configurations in order to design and architect an enhanced server and storage infrastructure solution following best-practices
- Perform complex audits and upgrades to existing server and storage infrastructure, including VMware, server clustering, back-ups, and restoration
- Follow change management and patch management policies ensuring successful configurations, patching and upgrades of servers, including proper testing techniques
- Assist with the creation and regular testing of thorough Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans
- Automate regular patching of all server infrastructure
- Provide Tier 2-3 Windows systems administration and VMware server infrastructure support via a ticketing system including configuration, provisioning, troubleshooting, performance tuning, capacity planning and assisting support services, enterprise application and database administrators
- Maintain documentation of processes and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable standards
- Interface with other departments to resolve complex or emergent operational problems
- Be responsible for Work Queue Management
- Execute technical strategies to increase efficiency and service
- Provide excellent customer service by delivering top-notch work, growing and nurturing your own skills and talents, sharing knowledge with others, soliciting continuous feedback, and owning your role in the customer experience lifecycle
- Protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of GPM corporate and client Protected Health Information (PHI) data
- Take on other tasks and projects as needed
Who You Are
- You have a bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology or other engineering or technical discipline
- You have 8-10 years of experience in general Information Technology
- You have 6-8 years advanced experience with Windows Server and VMware (ESXi 5.x or higher)
- You possess the ability to configure, document, and manage Windows Server 2003-2016, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, file storage, terminal servers, and print servers
- You have proven experience with system planning, security principles, and general system management best practices
- You thrive in a fast-paced, 24x7 environment, including after-hours on-call support
- You have advanced knowledge PowerShell script or equivalent demonstrated experience
- You have in-depth Windows System and Network Architecture knowledge
- You have a strong familiarity with HIPAA regulations
- You have previous experience working with Azure Cloud and VMware infrastructure
- You have active Microsoft MCSA, MCSE and/or VMware VCP certifications
- You possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and confident in client-facing work
- You possess strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and/or tasks
- You are committed and accountable for work and follow-through on projects and goals
- You are collaborative and team-oriented with the ability and desire to work across diverse, cross-functional teams
- You have prior experience working in a Software as a Service (SaaS) environment;preferred, but not required
- You have prior experience working in healthcare or health-tech, especially in the Long-Term Post-Acute Care industry (LTPAC);preferred, but not required
