About the Role
The transportation industry has no shortage of complex problems requiring creative solutions to scale efficiently. In this role, you will collaborate with a small team to understand user and market needs, participate in architectural design, and build distributed systems to facilitate our web-based platform.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with stakeholders and engineers to navigate business objectives
- Collaborate with other lead engineers to ensure best practices are used by all engineers withing the organization
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Engage in the full development life-cycle including architectural design and testing
- Be a force-multiplier on the velocity and quality of your team
- Enjoy leveling up engineers by being a mentor and teacher of the art
- Stay current on software engineering trends &tools, and be practical but open-minded in applying them
- Maintain a high bar for quality and performance of your product with vigorous attention to detail and automated testing
- Have strong understanding of event driven architecture, Kafka is a bonus
- Continuously improve how we design, build, and ship software as a highly functional team
Requirements
- 8-10 years of practical experience in software development, including designing, building, deploying, and maintaining web applications
- Experience with with one or more of the follow languages Java, C#, C/C++, Go,
Python or JavaScript with a willingness and ability to learn new ones - Experience working with at least one of the following: React or similar frameworks, continuous integration / continuous delivery tools, REST API development, serverless architecture, containerization, IaC, public / private cloud, application observability and/or messaging / stream architecture
- Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals: unit testing, code reviews, Agile and DevOps
- Ability to understand complicated problems and craft into simple solutions that can be maintained by the rest of the team
- Ability to train and mentor junior engineers
- Experience with SQL and RDBMS
- Experience NoSQL technologies a plus
- Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Compassion and empathy
- Experience in logistics industry a plus
