About You

You love hands-on experience in enterprise software/product development, lead data warehousing modeling and implementation. You'll have a primary focus on contributing to the planning, design, development, and maintenance of API-driven, customer facing products.

You will provide support in the design and integration of various components of security technology, including development, as appropriate. You have over 2 years of experience with Python, Scala, or Go, and 3+ years of experience building data warehouses / lakes using AWS Glue and Redshift, Snowflake or BigQuery. In addition to that, over 2 years of experience with SQL is also a must for this role.It is also important to be familiar with Agile software development methodologies.

You have worked with teams before on large and demonstrable projects, and are an expert at Implementing processes and systems to monitor data quality, ensuring production data is always accurate and available for key stakeholders and business processes that depend on it. You have hands-on experience with cloud platform-as-a-service providers such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

As a Lead Warehouse Engineer you must have strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as an analytical way of thinking. Effective collaboration with the engineering team is essential.

You love learning. Engineering is an ever-evolving world. You enjoy playing with new tech and exploring areas that you might not have experience with yet. You are self-driven, self-learner willing to share knowledge and participate actively in your community.

Having overlap with your team is critical when working in a global remote team. Modus requires all team members to overlap with EST morning hours daily. In addition, reliable high speed internet is a must.Small travel might be required for this role.

Things You Might Do

Modus is a fast-growing, and remote-first company, so you'll likely get experience on many different projects across the organization. That said, here are some things you'll probably do:

  • Own existing or new data warehousing projects to develop security outcomes for stakeholders
  • Work with product managers and data engineers to build analysis tools and metrics
  • Plan, execute and measure integration/continuous development processes, peer review, coding style, and development conventions
  • Expertise in relational and dimensional data modeling
  • Anticipate, prevent, or facilitate work through the stack and across lanes to achieve outcomes
  • Control capacity planning and deliverables
  • Work with our agile team to the ensure that code is peer reviewed, pair program with developers to find solutions, and effectively utilize daily standups to encourage your team to greatness
  • Plan, execute and measure delivery finalization and end-customer acceptance
  • Collaborate with other developers and product managers on feature design and system architecture
