Graphic Designer / Communications Coordinator - remote
Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects, a design practice with offices in Virginia, Houston and New York is seeking an experienced Graphic Designer / Communications Coordinator for the Charlottesville office. At least three (3) years’ experience is desired. We are committed to design excellence in the creation of landscapes that are sustainable and honor ecological and cultural contexts of place. We are seeking a Communications Coordinator with strong Graphic Design skills to join our team.
The person in this position will contribute to most every aspect of the department’s production. Broadly:
Assist the team, taking initiative in managing RFQ and RFP production tasks, and sometimes leading the response process Contribute to new publications on the firm’s work – from text editing to graphic design Contribute to web and social media tasks Participate in the production and commissioning of video work Organize and maintain digital files and images Assist in the strategizing and production of project material from logos and wayfinding to interpretive and narrative Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and a proven interest or experience in landscape architecture, architecture, design or science communication. Ability and appetite to prioritize deadlines and keep connected to the production team – often consisting of designers and communication staff – will be key.
Requirements:
At least 3 years of applicable experience Advanced to expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office Suite, and website development tools, Rhino experience would be a plus Working knowledge of 3-D modeling programs Rhino or SketchUp and associated plug-ins Rigorous attention to detail Proven ability to make significant contributions to text development and essential writing and editing processes with experience preferably in design or related disciplines Proven ability to make significant contributions to text development and essential writing and editing processes with experience preferably in design or related disciplines Strong oral, written and graphic communication skills Some digital photography and videography experience desired Video editing experience a plus CAD, 3-D modeling or GIS software knowledge a plus but not required Ability to prioritize and meet concurrent deadlines Remain up-to-date with graphic design practices and software Education Requirements:
Undergraduate or graduate graphic design or related degree or equivalent experience.
