Full Stack Developer for our in-house Service Desk - remote

Wavenet is seeking an experienced and talented Developer to expand the current team of 7 developers (5 based in Nottingham and 2 in Solihull).

The team works on both internal software development (Wavenet’s in-house Service Desk) and the TeamsLink customer portal which are key elements in Wavenet’s service delivery infrastructure.

Service Desk is Wavenet’s Services and Configuration Management System but also hosts our primary customer portal and interfaces via APIs to internal BSS systems and external supplier systems.

The team uses Agile processes work with monthly sprints with software releases delivered at the end of each sprint.

At present, Wavenet has a number of Service Desk workstreams dealing with customer-facing quoting and ordering, service and configuration data capture from legacy systems, reporting and dashboarding and ticket management improvements so there is a wide range of experience and skills in play.

Responsibilities (but not limited to):

The primary task of the Service Desk Software Developer is to create and deploy code for Service Desk in complex software development projects already identified and contribute to development in future Wavenet software development projects.

Secondary tasks relate to:

  • identifying improvements in Security, Performance and Resilience of existing and future software projects.
  • contributing to discussions on the architectural design of Wavenet Systems

The successful candidate will:

And have Technical Skills and Experience related to:

  • Developing in PHP 7.* using OOP
  • Frontend HTML, CSS, JavaScript development
  • SOAP and REST API’s including XML, JSON
  • MVC Frameworks, preferably Symfony but any OOP framework will qualify
  • Bootstrap or developing with CSS, SASS and Flexbox
  • Using Git and CI/CD

With Desirable Experience in:

  • Using TWIG templating
  • Design Patterns, Algorithms and S.O.L.I.D. principles
  • Go Lang
  • Deploying a LAMP stack
  • MS SQL knowledge

This role is permanent full-time role, attracts a salary of circa £35k and reports to the Service Desk Senior Developer.

The role is nominally based out of our Solihull Head Office. Occasional working from this office may be required but the successful candidate is assumed to be largely working from home. In the current COVID-19 situation, it is assumed all work would be from home.
