Frontend Developer with Data Visualization Experience - remote

Posted 3 years ago

Scalable Path is looking for a Frontend Developer with Data Visualization Experience to join the team and work on a client project. This is a remote, part-time position (approximately 4 hours/day).

CLIENT COMPANY DESCRIPTION:
The client is working on a platform to do usability testing with artificial intelligence. They aim to build a digital tool to change the way companies test their digital products.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The client is building the MVP of their empathy mapping user testing app and is looking for an experienced frontend developer to focus on one particular part of their application: the page where the test results are displayed. There are a couple of open-source libraries that we believe could be used:

http://www.simile-widgets.org/timeline/ (this one is most promising)

https://visjs.github.io/vis-timeline/examples/timeline/ (there could be some inspiration here as well)

We believe that experience with HTML Canvas Graphics may be necessary to implement. the desired visualization, but we are looking for an expert to examine the situation and make recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Researching and investigating existing data visualization libraries
- Implementing a complex, custom timeline visualization that represents the user's sentiments during a 1-hour interview
- Embedding the sentiment visualization in a web page that synchronizes the timeline visualization with the audio transcript and video recordings from the interview.

The client uses Monday for task management, Slack for chat, Github for source control, Storybook for React components, and Zeplin for design handoff.

RELATIONSHIPS - WHO YOU'LL BE WORKING WITH:
You will be working with the owners of the company who are both experienced designers, a software architect, and full-stack Node and React developer. There is an existing daily meeting at 7:00 pm Europe/Paris (+01:00) CET.

START DATE:
March 29, 2021

EXPECTED CONTRACT DURATION:
We estimate that the project will last 1-2 months, but it could become an ongoing engagement if things go well and the client receives expected additional funding this summer.
