CareScribe is a small company building various accessibility products. We build technology products that help remove the barriers. We're looking for a Front-end developer as we look to support our product development, help us mature our platforms, and continue to provide a great user experience.
About the role
You'll be tasked with working on the Caption.Ed Dashboard as well as two highly rich interaction React applications to support our users' workflows and help them transcribe media. The tools you'll be building will work both on the web and within React desktop applications.
You'll work closely with the CTO and other team members to define an approach to our new tools. We've not made any firm decisions about the tools and approach we'll take and you'll have the opportunity to contribute your ideas and best practices.
About you
We're looking for a highly motivated developer with a good understanding of how to build reliable data-driven applications. You'll need to be able to work with different stakeholders to understand the requirements from a design, technical and product standpoint.
You'll have the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and will be expected to share progress frequently with the team.
Here are some requirements for the role:
- You're proficient in HTML, CSS &JavaScript
- You've got demonstrable experience with React.js
- You've got experience with Git and GitHub
Essential
- Empathy - As part of a small team you'll work closely with various stakeholders and customers. You'll be expected to take time to develop solutions that consider everybody's view.
- Great communication - You must be able to clearly communicate your ideas and strategy with others as well as incorporate team decisions into your work.
- Experience with React.js, working with APIs and building data-driven UIs
Preferred (but not essential)
- Experience with tools like Electron
- An understanding of accessibly best practices
- Use of modern JavaScript such as ES6+
- Experience building SaaS products

- Captioned - Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Webpack + Modular JavaScript + SASS + Stimulus.js + React.js

Stage 1 - A call with an engineer and product lead. We'll talk about your experience both technically and from a design aspect and ask your thoughts on how you would approach this project. For permanent roles, we'll likely follow this up with a short technical challenge or pairing exercise.
Stage 2 - A non-technical in person or video interview with one of our directors. This will be a chance to find out more about Carescribe as a product and a bit about the team.
