Farnborough, Hampshire (Remote working available)

Fixed Term until March 2022 with chance to extend.

Your new company
I am recruiting exclusively for Rushmoor Borough Council, a long-standing institution that provides vital services to the local community. As part of a digital transformation programme they are looking to increase their in-house development team and move from 2 to 4 resources, with further growth planned on completion of project work.
Rushmoor Council is centrally located in Farnborough with good rail links to Hampshire/Surrey and the South, and the role can be worked remotely for the right candidate (office trips required 1-2 days per month).
This role will be worked on a Fixed Term basis, completing in March 2022, with the intention to then move to a permanent position, or to offer a similar Fixed Term agreement.
Your new role
The mandate is clear;revolutionise the customer experience by overhauling their technology. The pipeline of work is busy and almost exclusively greenfield. You'll spearhead the redesign of the Council's main website, essentially making life easier for those accessing servicesv(Public Safety, Environment Health, Elections to name a few).
We're seeking a Front End Developer with an eye for design, someone who can get involved with projects from the prototyping stage of a site design onwards. Acting as the sole Front End Developer you can have an influence on technologies and really own the build, using it as a case study in years to come. It's a perfect opportunity for someone looking for a high degree of responsibility as a mid-level developer, with intentions to move towards Senior / Architect level later in their career.
What you'll need to succeed
Rushmoor need proven experience using JavaScript/HTML/CSS and a portfolio to show previous web builds. Without this you will not be considered.
The eye for design will require comfortability with the Adobe Creative Suite and an understanding of UX principles will be beneficial.
The wider technical stack encompasses C# .Net, TFS, Jenkins, XML, Rest, SOAP and they run Agile so an understanding of these principles will serve you well.
What you'll get in return
There is great flexibility on the working hours and location of the role (office or remote). Aside from this the pension scheme is one of the best in the area and can be viewed on the council website. Work life balance is not an abstract culture here and there is big investment in training and professional development, as well as discounts for gym membership, a cycle to work scheme and 25 days' holiday.
