The Director of Vendor Management is responsible for creating, implementing, and managing the vendor management strategy. The strategy should support the product and delivery needs of our contracts and sales teams while maximizing profitability, ensuring simplicity, and minimizing complexity and effort for our customers and team members.
The Director of Vendor Management will lead the Vendor Management team and work with vendor partners to:
- Establish and own the development of Vendor Scorecards with measurable KPIs and a rubric that allows the team to strengthen relationships, improve costs and mitigate errors with our vendors as well as provide an objective lens for measuring vendor performance.
- Responsible for the overall profitability and cost efficiency of the Vendor Portfolio along with CES &CSAT Vendor Scores
- Understand and develop solutions for company and departmental vendor opportunities or needs
- Find and build new relationships with vendors or consolidate vendor relationships in order to accomplish company and vendor department goals
- Must know how to develop strategic procurement plans, vendor management plans, prioritize opportunities, and handle large-scale negotiations
- Actively monitor and communicate opportunities or obstacles to executive team
- Work to improve on-time delivery performance and delivery quality on shipments to Supply Chimp customers
- Reduce overall lead time and increase % of same-day-shipping item offering
- Reduce non-compliant freight spend and accessorial charges as a result of vendor behavior
- Increase EDI/automation between Supply Chimp and our suppliers
- Develop analytics around vendor performance, cost savings from initiatives, etc.
- Meet with Department Managers regularly to discuss and resolve vendor issues
- Lead meetings with vendors to review performance trends, identify collaborative opportunities to improve results, set deadlines for improvement and track progress
- Responsible for Contract SLAs and maintaining compliance and alignment with Supply Chimp’s Contracts team
- Manage the process for recovering cost from the vendor for poor scorecard performance, lack of commitment to improvement, missed financial targets, or other compliance or operational issues
- Track and report results to the executive leadership team including action plans for vendor improvements, cost savings from operational efficiency gained and recovered compliance dollars from vendors
- Continuously enhance, improve, and systematize the Vendor program and scorecard
- Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required
- Bachelor degree in Business or equivalent experience
- 7+ years in Supply Chain or Finance or leadership roles in DC Ops, FP&A, Purchasing or Transportation/Logistics
- Experience effectively managing supplier relationships and cost negotiations
- Experience developing analytics around supplier performance and cost savings from initiatives
- Drop-Ship Vendor Experience in one or all of the following areas: Office Products, Medical Supplies, MRO, JanSan, or Technology
- Fluent in vendor agreements/contracts
- Previous development/implementation/execution of a new or existing Supplier Compliance or Quality program
- Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office is required
- Excellent organizational and planning skills are required
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills are also required
$90k - $105k to start then switch to variable comp/OTE structure after ~6 months
1 Paid day per Quarter to Volunteer
15 vacation days (increases each year with tenure) plus all Major Holidays
