At Stone Press, we’re building the largest network of B2B review sites. Not only do we need to ship a lot of content, it needs to be the highest quality content out there, period.
To do that, our content team pushes the limits of what great content looks like. Some of our posts take months of research and end up exceeding 10,000 words. The research is amazing. The writing is amazing.
But we have a gap. There isn’t anyone on our team who cares as deeply about how our posts look and function.
That’s where you come in.
We are looking for a Content Producer whose sole priority is making content look amazing while also making sure everything works behind the scenes. You don’t need to be a developer or designer but you do need to be a WordPress pro. The content you format, test, and publish will be seen by millions of visitors every month, so your attention to detail should be the stuff of legends.
Your Responsibilities
- Build, upload, and maintain content on our portfolio of sites.
- Make sure content looks great and everything works once it’s published.
- Process images and make sure they’re crisp, properly sized, and formatted to render perfectly on any device. If they aren’t good enough to publish, return them with feedback on what needs to be fixed.
- Be a strong advocate for the technical quality of our sites. Agitate for changes when something isn’t good enough.
- Work within WordPress and HTML to code links, format text, tables, format images, create lists, etc.
- Meet all technical, SEO, and WCAG standards.
- Use advanced features of WordPress.
- Be the only person authorized to make content updates. This means you’ll need to build a strong understanding of the editorial strategy and approach for each brand.
- Build an ongoing technical audit program for all of our published content.
- Troubleshoot site errors and content issues, then work with other teams to resolve them.
- Collaborate with Content Managers to make sure content is published on time. Flag any upstream delays that threaten publishing deadlines.
How to Tell If You’ll be a Great Fit
- You are more than a WordPress uploader. You don’t bend to WordPress, WordPress bends to you. Table data not lining up? Funky line spacing between paragraphs? Complex, text-laden image not accessible to screen readers? Plugins, themes, and page templates not behaving? Not on your watch.
- In the same way typos annoy editors, an improperly rendered page is an affront to your senses. It’s an itch you can’t help scratching and nothing will stop you until that post renders correctly.
- You’re the type of person who believes the trains must run on schedule. Production is about shipping on time, every time. And you take immense pride in getting your area running like clockwork.
- You are aware that opportunities or issues sometimes arise that require an immediate change in direction. You can pivot with the best and still keep your clockworks humming.
- You have an eye for details lesser mortals miss. Nothing escapes your notice. You spot a double “space” on a post or an extra line break beneath a header. Everyone else thinks these things aren’t a big deal. Not only do you know they’re wrong, you’re the type of person who logs into WordPress and immediately fixes it when you see it on your own site.
- You’re zen about being pulled in multiple directions from time to time. Our Revenue team has one set of priorities. And our Content team has another. There will be times when one request directly contradicts another. In those cases, you have no problem going to your manager, clearly outlining the conflict, and working towards a resolution.
- You’re comfortable being the last person in the work chain. This means you’re the closest to the publishing deadline and you’ll feel every delay caused by anyone before you. You’ll have plenty of support from management to smooth out processes over time. But you know that you’ll feel delays more acutely than anyone else and need to actively highlight problems when they occur repeatedly.
