Bioinformatician for VarSome
The VarSome platforms are a comprehensive set of online tools for interpreting next-generation DNA sequencing data. They are used by thousands of healthcare professionals and researchers worldwide, as well as leading life sciences companies.
As a hands-on BioinformaticianDeveloper you will be responsible for our variant calling pipelines for many use-cases: germline, somatic, CNVs, gene fusions, cohort analysis…Your role will include integrating &validating cutting-edge third party tools (including Sentieon) as well as leveraging our own utilities and developing custom code and filters for clients. This challenging and critical role will stretch your knowledge of Python, Linux shell scripting &Perl, while also providing opportunities to work on cloud-based solutions &scheduling, to create world-class scalable solutions.

This is a fully work-from-home role within the EU time-zones: our core development team is located around Athens, though everybody works from home most of the time, with other employees across the EU &the US. Everybody speaks good English and the company is very experienced in coordinating a regionally distributed team. There will also be opportunities to travel occasionally, once Covid restrictions are lifted to attend conferences, meet co-workers in person for off-sites or specific projects.
Our company, Saphetor S.A., is based in Switzerland: we are a start-up with secure funding and making a big impact in our field worldwide, pioneering the use of big-data sequencing technology, such as exome and whole-genome sequencing, for clinical practice.
Depending on your location, you will either be a Saphetor employee, or work as a contractor.
