  • Role Summary:

    The software engineering role is all about consistently contributing to the core technology of our products. We are looking for a talented back-end software engineer to implement features from idea stage to production and have some push-back when you believe we are heading the wrong direction.

    We need someone with a high sense of ownership and the drive to improve the performance of our API and serverless functions. If you love optimizing systems and having the power to command the database and server to create scalable procedures to handle thousands of users, then this is the right role for you.

    We are also looking for someone who understands our business and is interested on digital marketing and where it is heading. The role is fully-remote but you will have the option to interact with your teammates in person when we get together.

    This role is a full-time position, 40-hour week position, with a flexible schedule to accommodate talented lifestyles.

    You'll be a founding member of our engineering team, so there is a lot of freedom.

    You'll work directly with our Chief Product Officer (CPO) who will prioritize the most important tickets. Our CPO is a world-class product manager, UX, and UI designer who has experience in handling millions of transactions and users per month before founding Trend.

    You'll be collaborating with our Software Tech Lead who will help you assess different solutions to challenging technological problems. He has a lot of experience with marketplaces and leading development teams to became productive happier versions of themselves. Before Trend, he was the co-founder and CTO of the leading US marketplace for schools looking to hire teachers.

    Simply put, the work you do here will make an impact on both content creators (increasing their personal earning potential) and business (helping them grow their business).

    Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
    • 3+ years of back-end experience with NodeJS on production level applications is required. We're looking for someone who can think asynchronously and take advantage of it.
    • Extensive knowledge on back-end technologies, specifically functional programming with emphasis on reusable components that have standardized error handling and data validation.
    • Knowledge of serverless architecture using Google Firebase Functions and optimization of payloads for the front-end such that the application is performant always (see pagination, compression, and caching).
    • Excellent communication skills and good habits when it comes to documenting and presenting ideas.
    • 1+ years of experience with GraphQL or similar technologies.
    • Computer Science background is a very nice bonus.
    • Deployment, Unit Testing and Document Schema Design are also very nice bonuses.
