Reaktiv is actively searching for an Associate Director of Development to join our remote team. You will lead and manage a team of developers, tracking both their career growth and their day to day work. You will mentor and guide your direct reports, while still digging in to projects as a billable contributor.

You will also lead and help manage client projects. This can range from general oversight on projects to consulting and helping with overall architectural and technical decision making and solutions. Your guidance on projects will be invaluable to our client relationships and overall team effectiveness.

The ideal candidate is experienced both as an engineer and as a people manager. A successful candidate will have strong communication skills and lead their team with empathy and direction, and promote a collaborative working environment. This position will report to the Director of Development.

Requirements:

  • Meeting one-on-one with your team members and guiding them on approaches to client projects, professional development opportunities, and technical expertise
  • Providing regular verbal and written feedback to direct reports to highlight potential areas of improvement and celebrate success
  • Collaborating with the delivery team to establish priorities and ideal processes across the team
  • Ensuring that team members are unblocked and set up for success
  • Serving in the lead role on client projects, helping with technical scopes, project plans and task breakdowns
  • Building flexible, performant, and reusable code that follows established best practices
  • Communicating directly with clients about our technical approach

  • You're committed to building, maintaining, supporting, and refactoring web sites and content management systems (with a focus on WordPress)
  • You love participating in positive and collaborative peer code reviews
  • You possess a high level understanding of PHP and JavaScript, and are proficient in SQL, and WordPress theme and plugin development
  • You embrace your curious nature by approaching new and complex problems with gusto, and continuously seek out opportunities to grow
