We are open to remote candidates located within CST to BRT time zones.

At MetaLab, we design some truly groundbreaking products, and our engineers help turn those designs into reality. Our engineering team needs your help in getting projects up and running and helping our teams release new products into the wild.

As a DevOps Engineer at MetaLab, you’ll work with our broader engineering team to configure, control, monitor, and scale our deployment pipeline and cloud infrastructure across multiple regions globally. We have a talented team of engineers who are passionate about delivering high-quality products and user experience, and this role will directly enable and support their work.

What you’ll do

  • Work closely with our engineering team to implement our build and deployment pipeline and stand up multi-regional cloud infrastructure
  • Leverage Terraform to codify all of our infrastructure and configuration and use it to provide resources to our engineering team and assist with the promotion of releases
  • Develop and implement application, service, and infrastructure monitoring tools and create metrics, alerts, and dashboards for proactive monitoring and incident response
  • Work with the team to identify areas for improvement within our cloud architecture
  • Implement Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices to enhance system reliability, scalability, and performance of our services
  • Proactively advise on security risks and mitigation strategies in the context of each product
  • Produce cost estimations for proposed cloud infrastructures and the best ways to optimize them

    Requirements

    • 5+ years of experience in cloud-based systems
    • Strong computer science fundamentals: networking, databases, and distributed systems
    • Experience with AWS
    • Fluent in at least one language: NodeJS, Python, or Ruby
    • Experience with Infrastructure As Code (ideally Terraform)
    • Experience with logging, monitoring, and alerting systems and tools (Cloudwatch, Sentry, PagerDuty, or similar)
    • Experience with container technologies (preferably Docker)
    • Experience with CI/CD tools and processes such as Github Actions, Jenkins, or CodePipelines
    • Good understanding of information security best practices and well-architected frameworks
    • Proficiency in incident management, capacity planning, and performance tuning of cloud infrastructure
    • Understanding of SRE tools and concepts such as SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets
    • Enjoy solving problems and working collaboratively with engineering and product teams

      Nice to Haves

      • Certifications in AWS, solution architecture
      • Proficient in using command line tools in a *nix environment
      • Experience with agile development methodologies
      • Experience managing multi-tenanted cloud SaaS applications
      • Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and a passion for continuous learning
