*Valvoline Global Operations Headquarters is located in Lexington, KY. We are open to candidates working in a remote capacity in other states, but willing to visit HQs as needed.

How You’ll Make an Impact

This role manages legal and process-oriented asks related to Valvoline Global’s compliance program. It reports to Valvoline Global’s Associate Counsel Privacy &Compliance and collaborates with Valvoline Global’s Legal team. The Senior Paralegal will support the efficient operations of the Law Department, including the administration of Valvoline Global’s compliance program. This Senior Paralegal role will need to present in-depth knowledge of core ethics and compliance standards, work independently, and be able to efficiently collaborate with the business regarding various compliance matters. Working under the supervision of an attorney, this paralegal works with all departments to maintain and update corporate policies and procedures, reinforce and provide ethical guidance, and help resolve complex compliance and privacy problems.

In the role, you would be responsible for:

  • Obtain and maintain drafting knowledge of privacy provisions in contracts and other privacy-related documents. Draft and negotiate DPAs and privacy provisions using established templates under the supervision of in-house counsel.
  • Help to track, manage, and organize privacy-related notices and similar terms published internally and externally on various platforms.
  • Support the Privacy &Compliance counsel with researching and analyzing various compliance topics, including obligations regarding environmental regulations, trade practices, and privacy laws
  • Manage the conflicts of interest disclosure program from initial reporting through escalation and provide support on the resolution of identified conflicts.
  • Assist in implementing a policy management and review system and maintain the system and related records in an organized manner.
  • Help revise and update corporate policies, procedures, and related communications to improve operational efficiency and mitigate risk.
  • Demonstrate expertise in the corporate policies and procedures to field questions from the business, with the ability to exercise judgment on when to involve in-house counsel and policy owners.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and updating of various training materials and company-wide ethics and compliance courses.
  • Handle special projects as assigned.

    What You’ll Need

    • Bachelor’s degree with a focus on law, paralegal studies or a related field
    • A minimum of 5 years of paralegal work experience is required within a law firm and/or in-house
    • Compliance experience, including supporting ethics matters, privacy, and/or environmental compliance tasks
    • Experience running or supporting a public company compliance program, including policy management or other governance measures
    • Strong knowledge of ethics and compliance concepts, anti-bribery/anti-corruption laws, and other US compliance laws/regulations.
    • Basic understanding of conflict of interest, ESG, and code of conduct concepts.
    • Familiarity with US privacy laws, GDPR, and other privacy laws/regulations.
    • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality with sensitive matters and documents.
    • Problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to present solutions where precedent may not exist.
    • Excellent legal research skills and experience utilizing Westlaw.
    • Drafting and negotiation skills, including the capability to communicate complex topics in an appropriate manner.
    • Administrative skills such as maintaining, updating, and organizing files in accordance with company policies.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
    • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
    • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
