We’re a small startup (~15 people) looking for a hands-on Director of Engineering to help scale the people organization while providing a stable platform to scale the Haus business. As one of the earliest employees, you’ll be on the ground floor in defining and actualizing the Haus engineering culture, driving best practices and participating in the design and implementation of customer-focused products. As Director of Engineering Team you will:
- Inspire and provide guidance and mentorship to your team members and empower them to deliver at the highest level
- Understand and cultivate a team culture to ensure we’re building a product that can serve the widest number of existing and future homeowners
- Design and implement systems to power the Haus website and internal operations with a focus on the customer experience
- Partner with stakeholders from other teams (operations, finance, marketing, sales, etc.) to ensure we’re building the right solutions for them
- Adopt data driven approaches during decision making processes
- Identify areas of improvement—both in the code/design, as well as in our engineering practices
- Define and implement engineering metrics and hold team accountable
What we’re looking for:
- Professional experience at a startup
- Significant professional experience designing and implementing modern web applications, both on the backend and frontend, especially leveraging Single Page Applications
- Professional experience designing, building, and deploying microservices and APIs
- Professional experience with modern software development processes, CI/CD, production deployments and infrastructure (AWS experience a plus) and performance/error monitoring
